Our story begins in 1979, when Richard “Dick” Riddle dreamed of starting his own business in Detroit, Mich. He followed his calling and the rest, as they say, is history.
Richard “Dick” Riddle, a former pastor, school principal and even homebuilder, joins an insurance agency representing Church Mutual in Detroit, Mich.
Dick becomes one of the insurance agency’s top-producing agents.
When Church Mutual opens a new sales territory in California, Dick, along with his wife Maryann and their three children, follow their dreams to start a business from the ground-up. They head west and open Church & Casualty in a small office in Tustin.
Church & Casualty moves to its current location in Newport Beach and opens its second office further north in Vacaville.
The third Church & Casualty office opens in Fresno.
More than 3100 religious-based clients turn to Church & Casualty for their insurance needs.
The Church & Casualty client list, including some of the largest and most respected religious and nonprofit organizations in the nation, tops 4000.
Church & Casualty celebrates 25 years of success.
Dick names Travis Tjepkema, his son-in-law, as the company’s new president, ensuring the future of Church & Casualty as an independent, family-owned business.
Church & Casualty becomes the exclusive representative for Church Mutual in the state of Nevada.
More than 6700 religious-based and nonprofit organizations, including worship centers, schools, camps and human service providers, trust Church & Casualty to meet their insurance needs.
